Apart from The Master, possibly the second most anticipated September release for me is the Looper. For the reason that it is unveiled at the end of September, I believe most of you have not seen it yet, and that is the key reason why it jumps into my October recommending list. Undoubtedly, Looper has great potential to become the top sci-fi film of the year. Written and directed by Rian Johnson, this film is an action-filled time-travel tale about a present-day mob hitman who kills people sent back in time from the future. Anyone interested in, never miss out the it!

This movie is adopted as the opening movie on Toronto International Film Festival. It is widely consider that the Argo will not be the one that tops on the box office, but will become the unique hit of the year.

My Rate: 7.5 points out of 10.

3. The Sessions

Release Date: 19 October 2012
Genres: Drama

It is a common sense that David Mitchell's 2004 novel Cloud Atlas is regarded as a literary landmark. Adapted by this remarkable novel, the Cloud Atlas movie is undoubtedly the most ambitious film on the fall schedule. With so many stunning stars included like Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, and Susan Sarandon, the Cloud Atlas will look good on big screen thanks to its ensemble cast.

My Rate: 8.5 points out of 10.

5. Taken 2

Genres: Action/Crime/Drama
Directors: Olivier Megaton
Main Stars: Liam Neeson, Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace

The Taken 1 is a surprise hit in the winter of 2009, which has won $226 million box office worldwide. For the big success of its predecessor, so many Taken followers are expecting that the Taken 2 will bring us more surprises. With nearly the same actors and same maker team, seemingly everything is possible, although there are so many challengers on October.

My Rate: 8.6 points out of 10.

Alright, above mentioned movies are all the ones I highly recommend you to watch on October. Find a nice day and move to the movie theater to get fun from those wonderful movies!

The Avengers, Bond 50 and Batman Top This Week's DVD and Blu-ray Releases

It seems as if this week is pretty busy for Blu-ray and DVD releases. Personally, I am so excited to see the announcement of The Avengers. Until now, I still can not believe that I have missed it when hitting the theaters. Apart from The Avengers, the Bond 50: The Complete 22 Film Collection and the Part 1 of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns also hit the stores. Let us check out the details:

The Avengers

Seemingly I am the only person on the planet who hadn't seen The Avengers in this summer. There was a time that all my friends discussed this blockbuster everyday. Admittedly, this all-star superhero epic is a must-see one among all kinds of summer releases. If you are the one like me sadly missing out this movie, here comes an exciting news, it will arrive at home in the forms of Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and four-disc combo that includes the 3D Blu-ray, 2D Blu-ray, DVD, digital copy, and digital music download. So, do not hesitate to grasp this rare chance to see The Avengers with Home Theater System.

The Blu-ray and DVD are available on September 25th.

Bond 50: The Complete 22 Film Collection

Although there is just one month left for the anticipated release of Skyfall, the MGM still decides to announce all 22 previous films in the long-running James Bond franchise with an ultimate collection set. The box includes the Bond movies from 1962's Dr. No to 2008's Quantum of Solace on Blu-ray, the 130 hours bonus features and some new, exclusive contents. By the way, the Bond 50 Blu-ray collection has an open slot for Skyfall, so you can add it when that film is released.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1

The comic animated film Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 is also available on DVD and Blu-ray on September 25th. It is widely considered that it changes the way people to look at Batman and comics in general. Originated from Frank Miller's 1986 four-issue prestige series, the movie perfectly adapts the first two issues of the series and you still can see full Frank Miller' style in this adapted film. If you're a fan of Batman and the DC original animated movies, there's no doubt that you will desire to add the Blu-ray and DVD of Batman Part 1 releases to your collection. Meanwhile, more than likely we need to wait for a few months for its Part 2.

The above listed 3 movies are the ones you have to focus on this week. Also, you can check out below roundup for the other releases. All these discs can be purchased on Amazon with quite decent prices.
American Horror Story (2011 miniseries)
American President, The (1995 romantic dramedy)
Dave (1993 comedy-romance)
Damsels in Distress (2011 romantic dramedy)
Klown (2010 Danish comedy)

Windows Phone 8 Fight: Samsung ATIV S vs. Nokia Lumia 920 vs. HTC Windows Phone 8X

There is no denying that Windows Phone OS crafted by Microsoft has not taken the mobile world by storm. When it comes to Window Phone 7 OS, to some extents, it is end up in failure.  However, with Microsoft getting to unveil their brand-new Windows Phone 8 platform and meantime a multitude of top-tier Windows Phone 8 smartphones joining in Windows Phone 8 family, seemingly its adverse conditions will be changed.

As you probably know, the newest children added to Windows Phone family are Samsung ATIV S, Nokia Lumia 920, HTC Windows Phone 8X. If you have watched the official announcements and at this moment, you are eager to seek for something totally different from Android, iOS, all these three phones are worthy of your consideration. Get stuck in which one is the best choice for you? Perhaps below reference will help you out.
Camera:
We should admit that the mobile camera is not the main tool for image shooting in our daily life. However, more and more folks tends to give up carrying bulky professional camera with them and choose to use smartphone mobiles to take pictures. Now let us talk about their stuffed cameras:
  • The Samsung ATVI S is packed with an 8MP rear camera with certain features like auto-focus, flash, plus its front camera resolution is 1.9MP.
  • The Nokia Lumia 920 comes with an 8.7 MP camera with the widely reputed Carl Zeiss Tessar lens and a secondary VGA camera.
  • HTC Windows Phone 8X boasts a primary 8MP camera at the rear and a secondary 2.1 MP camera in the front to support video-calls.
Winner: If you are the one loving photographing and hate to bring a clunky camera, the Lumia 920 is undoubtedly your best choice, thanks to its PureView camera with the best image stabilization in the industry and Carl Zeiss optics.

Screen:
Personally, the most important part of a mobile is the screen. A bigger and sharper screen will present the best visual experience and viewing angle when enjoying the multimedia. A high quality screen will deliver the most perfect touch sense. So, now let us talk about their packed screen.
  • Samsung ATIV S has a 4.8-inch super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1280 X 720. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass.
  • A 4.5-inch Huge PureMotion HD+ display sits on Lumia 920, with a screen resolution of 1280 X 768. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
  • The HTC Windows Phone 8X sports a 4.3-inch super LCD screen with the same resolution as the Samsung ATIV S and is also covered up by Gorilla Glass.
Winner: Among all three mobiles, Samsung ATIV  S is the largest one; Lumia 920 is the brightness one; HTC 8X is the smallest one. No winner here. You can choose your preferred one based on personal needs.

Processor:
It is a common sense that the CPU is the heart of each mobile and a high-end processor can provide a blazing-fast responsiveness alongside quick data speeds. At present, seemingly the high-profile Windows Phone 8 smartphones announced recently are packed with the nearly same performance processor. For example:
  • Samsung ATIV S has a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM
  • Nokia Lumia 920 boasts a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 1GB RAM
  • HTC 8X also sports a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 1GB RAM
Winner: The same processor and the same RAM, there is no winner here too.

Battery:
If you prefer to do video games and watch videos on your smartphone, a far long battery life is so vital.
  • Samsung ATIV S contains a 2300 mAh battery.
  • Nokia Lumia 920 covers a 2000 mAh battery.
  • HTC 8X has a battery power of 1800 mAh.
Winner: On the surface, the Smasung ATIV S is a slight winner.

In my mind, the Lumia 920 is the hero of all three Windows Phone 8 mobiles. The HTC 8X is also a quite good one especially considering its Beats Audio, however, it seems that the 8X completely imitate the design of Lumia 920, which is the part I really dislike. Apart from the fresh OS, no surprise with HTC 8X and Samsung ATIV S.

Actually, I can not wait to give a look to the alternate ending. Perhaps you have the same idea as me.

4. Ed Wood  [Blu-ray]

Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release Judge Dredd onto Blu-ray for the first time ever on September 18.

Disney tends to announce some of its old but classic films this year and Ed Wood is one of them. Ed Wood is widely considered as the one of the best works in Tim Burton’s career, which has ever won two Oscar awards. The special features in this Blu-ray discs includes 5 deleted scenes, an audio commentary from Burton and featurettes covering Howard Shore’s score. Personally, this black-and-white movie is deserving of our re-see in home theater.

5. Supernatural: The Complete Seventh Season [Blu-ray]

Supernatural: The Complete Seventh Season starts to be released on Blu-ray on September 18. There is no denying that the Supernatural is a great series, but Season 7 is not the best season. 6. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel[Blu-ray]

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel will be hitting Blu-ray and DVD on September 18. This charming movie is the one I highly recommend you to watch, as it tells us all how to deal with the issues we will meet in our daily life like love, life and learning. Perhaps this movie will be liked by those older film fans, but do not let age discrimination keep you away from this wonderful movie.

7. Judge Dredd [Blu-ray]

Although the Judge Dredd adapted by director Danny Cannon can only be described as cheesy, if you happen to the fans of this movie, here you get a chance to review this film after released on September 21. 10. Katy Perry The Movie: Part of Me (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy)

Katy Perry The Movie: Part of Me is actually a documentary concert film centering on the singer Katy Perry. Although it wins positive reviews from critics, the box office performs under expectations. Now this film is available in a Blu-ray/DVD/digital Copy bundle for your convenient home viewing enjoyment, which include the full concert performances of “Last Friday Night” and “Waking Up in Vegas”, footage of Perry visiting with her grandma and attending the Grammys, and behind-the-scenes video from Perry’s California Dreams tour. So, how can it stack up against the rat race from high-profile competitors that have all been unveiled by different mobile makers recently, like Samsung Galaxy S3, Nokia Lumia 920, Motorola Droid RAZR HD? We know that the Galaxy S3 has become the best-selling handset around the global; Lumia 920 is absolutely the best smartphone coming from WP8 camp; while Droid RAZR HD is also a top-rank phone deserving of our attentions. Exactly which one is the winner in your thought? Perhaps below tablet will help you out!

iPhone 5 Released: Bigger, Faster but Lacks Wow Features

iPhone 5 is already here! With months of rumors and speculations, endless leaked images and heaps of analysis reports on the net, Apple finally took the wraps off the highly anticipated iPhone 5 at the live media event yesterday. As I have stated earlier, iPhone 5 is lighter, thinner, boasts a taller 4-inch display, faster A6 chip, 8MP rear camera, 4G LTE network, a totally new connector and some other innovative features. So, first off, give our full attention to detailed analysis on the changes of iPhone 5.

1. Apple A6 processor
As we all know, CPU acts as the most important part in a smartphone and Apple has indeed made a great enhancement on iPhone 5’s processor, with boasting an A6 CPU. According to Apple’s claims, the A6 chip is two twice faster than the A5 chip that is inside the iPhone 4S.

2. 4-inch Retina Display with 1136-by-640p resolution
To remain the top-notch screen quality, the Retain Display that you can find on iPhone 4S is also equipped on iPhone 5. Apple has expanded the screen size from 3.5-inch to 4-inch, but still keeping the same total resolution at 326 pixels per inch. What have been changed are the 1,136x640 total pixel count and the 16:9 aspect ratio. When you get an iPhone 5 at hand, you will find that the screen is big, bright and crisp, with a highly improved visual experience.

3. 4G LTE support
With LTE gradually becoming the mainstream network connectivity, it is really not a surprise to see the new iPhone 5 is packed with 4G LTE, which will bring a pretty fast mobile browsing speed. However, what might bother us is that 4G LTE is not support by a large proportion of countries.

4. Lightning dock connector
Personally, the biggest change of iPhone 5 is that Apple creates a new way to plug your iPhone in. There is a much smaller connector port at the bottom of this newly unveiled mobile. Although it is a quite nice ideal for a much smaller connector, it will cause some disturbances for those who possess the original Apple connectors.

5. Upgraded software: iOS 6
The iPhone 5 is powered by the latest version of Apple’s mobile OS – iOS 6, which is with a slew of brand-new features. Perhaps the most significant change is the Map app. We know Apple has abandoned Google’s Map and tends to create its own mapping service. Although Google's Map app is quite excellent, individually, I hope the Apple Map will bring us a surprise.

Besides, the call quality of iPhone 5 is improved thanks to the built-in three microphones and the battery life is enhanced with a much longer playing time. What I should mention here is that there is basically no big change on the camera of iPhone 5. And like before, iPhone 5 will come in 16, 32 and 64 GB options and the prices of 16GB, 32GB, 64GB are $199, $299, $399 respectively. On September 21, it will go on sale in nine countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Anyone in those countries can start to preorder iPhone 5 from September 14.

To let you get a better understanding of the difference between iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, today I will also show you a comparison chart to let you know what have been changed and what have been kept same.

When comparing it with the last generation iPhone 4, seemingly there are just few surprises on this new offering. Are you the one that is excited about the release of iPhone 5, or just the person feeling so disappointed?

Titanic, Snow White and Huntsman, Lola Versus Hit the Shelves on DVD and Blu-ray This Week

This week, there are totally 3 movies on the list of  DVD and Blu-ray releases, which includes the Titanic, Snow White and Huntsman, Lola Versus. Among all of them, Titanic is my most anticipated one, what about you?

Far as I know, a lineup of Hollywood blockbusters will come this fall. The Titanic is just one of them and it has hit the stores yesterday, with the release of digitally re-mastered DVD, common Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D. Personally, nothing on earth can rival with the epic spectacle and breathtaking grandeur of Titanic. So, you have no reason to miss out buying those Titanic discs for forever keeping.

The Snow White and Huntsman is widely regarded as a mash-up between fairy tale and a big battle epic, with a fantasy but violence theme. Although this film earns a fairly decent amount at the box office, seemingly all global eyes tend to focus on the gossip between the actor and director and the film is totally overshadowed. Thankfully, there comes a chance for us to re-consider the film itself with the release of DVD/Blu-ray versions on September 11. All digital copies are jam-packed with plenty of extras for the fans, if you are interested in, just go and purchase one!

Well, the Blu-ray/DVD copies of romantic comedy Lola Versus have been released yesterday. As a critics disliked film that just bringing in $252,603 at the box office, will you get it to your shelves?

Nokia Lumia 920: the Ultimate Hope for Windows Phone?

After the release of Samsung Ativ S, Windows Phone 8 based Nokia Lumia 920 has been officially announced as well. We know that the Lumia 920 is an extremely important phone for Nokia and it looks like that Nokia goes all out to make sure it has a chance to be the winner in current smartphone arena. Speaking of its state-of-the-art stuffs, this Nokia’s true flagship is equipped with a suite of amazing features, like a larger and curved 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display with 1,280 x 768 resolution, dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 CPU, 2,000mAh battery, NFC, integrated wireless charging and an 8-megapixel rear PureView camera capable of 1080p video. What should be mentioned is that the packed display on Lumia 920 is the fastest LCD that Nokia has ever shipped on a smartphone. Meanwhile, Nokia Lumia 920 will be available in yellow, red, white grey and black colours, which offers different color choices for us!
When you scan the designs and announced specs of Lumia 920, obviously, it is a wonderful mobile with smooth, fast and sleek performance and there are a ton of future-is-here features offered. From what I know so far, this phone can go toe to toe with Galaxy S3, HTC One X and even the forthcoming iPhone 5 in operation performance part. However, here my question is: all benefits mentioned above are enough for you to consider buying it?

Certainly, the Nokia Lumia 920 looks quite good, but seemingly it is not finished. There is no selling price and no release date provided. Some folks even hold the idea that it possibly will be dead in the water like the last Windows 7 phone Lumia 800. What’s more, considering the Windows app platform and simultaneously comparing it with Android and Apple platforms, the lack of apps is a real problem for all potential Windows phone followers, including me.

We know that currently no one can give a serious reassessment of the WP app situation and its platform still has a chance to mature a little. So, if such a beast ends up existing, will you jump from your iPhone or top-end Android phone to this WP8-based Nokia Lumia 920?
