BlackBerry Z10 vs Samsung Galaxy S3

Months of rumors and speculation later, RIM's first full-touch BlackBerry 10 device – BlackBerry Z10 is finally official! The device is getting plenty of love from many around the tech community.

Actually the Z10 is fast and it packs extremely great specs – it even has the support for 4G LTE. While there is no escaping the fact that the BlackBerry 10 powered Z10 is likely a pretty good smartphone, how it stacks up with other existed flagships, especially the Android mobile king Samsung Galaxy S3? Is it better? Is the BlackBerry Z10 up to par? Does it have a better build and design quality? Wow, so many doubts out there, right? Why not take a comparison between BlackBerry Z10 and Galaxy S3 now?

Before the full comparison, let us take a gander at the basic features of BlackBerry Z10.

BlackBerry Z10 vs Samsung Galaxy S3

Screen:

BlackBerry Z10 features a 4.2-inch display with a resolution of 1280-by-768p (356 pixels per inch), while the Galaxy S3 gets a larger 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display and the resolution stands at 1,280x720, which is extremely bright.

In terms of brightness Galaxy S3 blows away all displays on the market and its screen is simply better than the one found on Z10. Color reproduction looks better too. However, Z10 is more comfortable to hold, just like iPhone 5.

Processor:

Samsung's Galaxy S3 runs on a quad-core Exynos 1.4GHz Cortex A9 processor for international version, Snapdragon S4 dual-core at 1.5GHz for the US version. The Z10, on the other hand, is powered by a dual-core processor clocked to 1.5GHz. It's a top-of-the-line processor that offers superb gaming performance and the device rocks 2GB of RAM. It's without doubt a beast.

Camera:

Blackberry Z10 is equipped with a rear-facing 8 megapixel shooter capable of 1080p video, and a front-facing 2 megapixel camera which can do 720p video capture. The camera doesn't take shots as crisp as the ones you'll get from the Galaxy s3, but it has a new "wow" feature called Time Shift. The Galaxy S3 has an 8-megapixel camera on back and a front camera at 1.9 megapixels.

Storage:

BlackBerry Z10 has a 16GB of internal storage plus a microSD slot of up to 32 GB, while the Galaxy S3 comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions and support for SD card up to 64GB. Samsung takes a big advantage in this round.

Battery:

With regards to the packed battery power, the BlackBerry Z10 only has a 1,800mAh battery, while Galaxy S3 has a more powerful 2,100mAh battery life, supporting up to 12 hours of talk time, up to 10 hours on 3G, up to 60 hours for audio playback and up to 11 hours for video playback.

Software:
The Z10 runs on the fire-new BlackBerry 10 OS. At this point, it is a little hard to tell about BlackBerry 10, just because that currently it is not as mature as Android. And we have to wait and see the overall performance of the BB10-powered BlackBerry Z10.

The S3 is powered by Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, Google's awesome Jelly Bean OS. Similar to Android 4.0, the new OS offers Google Now, a better camera app and awesome expandable notifications.
Apps:

The Z10 powered by BlackBerry 10 comes with so many preloaded apps you are possibly interested in, like BlackBerry s BBM app(non-support for voice and video calls), Twitter, Facebook and a new BlackBerry Map app, although it is not good as Google Map.

The Android Jelly Bean OS onboard Galaxy S3 is full  mature now. There are millions of apps on Google Play to fully fit our needs. Actually there is a long way for BlackBerry to develop its own app store.

Price and release date:

It is said that the BlackBerry Z10 will be priced at $199.99 for a two-year contract. Its unlocked version will be sold for $599. The price of Galaxy s3 starts at  $199 with two-year contract.

BlackBerry Z10 will hit the stores in March, 2013, while Galaxy S3 is now available worldwide.

Sum up:

No denying that the BlackBerry Z10 is a great phone with fire-new BB10 OS as well as high-performing hardware. However, it is really power enough to save the BlackBerry line and RIM? Sound off your ideas!
